2026-2027 Contest Update
We are excited to announce the speech events that will be included in the 2027 district contest:
International: Contestants present a five- to seven-minute speech on any subject they choose.
Evaluation: Contestants observe a five-to seven-minute test speech and then present a two-to three-minute evaluation of the test speech.
Contest Selection Sequence
Whereas the District encourages members to participate in the International Speech Contest and one additional contest open to members who have not competed two Pathway levels.
The decision whether or not to allow two (2) contestants to advance from club to Area, from Area to Division, must be made and communicated throughout the District prior to the commencement of the contest cycle, i.e., prior to any club contests being held.
CLUB CONTESTS
Eight (8) weeks prior to the Area contests, any Area with four (4) assigned clubs or fewer in good standing, District 2 will allow two (2) contestants for each club to compete in the Area Contest.
AREA CONTESTS
In those Divisions with four (4) assigned Areas or fewer (Division G), District 2 will allow two (2) contestants for each Area to compete in the Division Contest.
DIVISION CONTESTS
As District 2 has more than four (4) assigned Divisions, only one contestant per Division, per contest type, may participate in the District Contest.
